I am the vice chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery (to be in charge of student education) at the University Hospital of St. Poelten in Austria. I have performed over 3,000 procedures. My main subspecialty is brain tumour surgery, including skull base surgery and cerebrovascular surgery. With the exception of spinal instrumentation, I am also experienced in spinal surgery (>1000 cases).
My main scientific interest is neuro-oncology and traumatic brain injury. Since 2014, I have been the head of the study group Neurotraumatology of the Austrian Society of Neurosurgery. I am internationally trained with neuroscience fellowships at the University of West Virginia, USA, the University of Naples, Italy, the University of Tübingen, Germany, and at the trauma centre in Murnau, Germany.
My main goal in any neurosurgical consultation is to explain the medical imaging in the context of the neurologic symptoms of the patient. The patient’s comprehension is crucial and necessary to set the patient on the road to recovery.

Dr. Marhold gave me a clear answer to all my questions, and although they were mostly bad news in our case , he delivered the news very sensitively, empathically, and didn't make us lose our hope. I appreciate him providing a second opinion and would recommend it to everyone who is dealing with bad news from their doctor, to get a second opinion via Diagnose.me – if for nothing else, then at least for your peace, making sure you know you did everything you could.

Hello, the second medical opinion from a specialist, a doctor from abroad (Franz Marhold) helped us better understand the diagnosis. We received a detailed report in which our questions were clarified and answered. I would definitely recommend contacting Diagnose.me, their promptness, servis or communication, everything was at a very professional level. Thank you for having you!
